Let’s Help Pets Find Forever Homes
Thinking of adding a furry friend to your family? If you’re ready to commit and handle the responsibilities of a pet parent, then this can be the perfect time to adopt one! November is National Adopt A Senior Pet Month, and we encourage you to adopt a pet and help save a life. Read on to hear the adoption story of our Petpreneurs Chance and Courage, and find out ways how you can adopt or sponsor a pet!
Why adopt a pet
Our first cat Petpreneurs from New Manila, Chance and Courage, were adopted by their fur mom, Jane Sy. Jane originally wanted a dog, but a visit to a friend who had a cat made her warm up to the idea of wholeheartedly adopting a cat. After that one-week visit, she called another friend who had kittens up for adoption. Jane confirmed that she would adopt not just one but two kittens, and the rest is history! “It wasn’t love at first sight, but it was love that grew over time,” she says.
Adopting Chance and Courage made Jane feel a kind of love that extends beyond breed and personal biases. “I had my personal biases about cats or pusakals as Filipinos would fondly call our strays here, but there really is so much more than what the naked eye can see.” Adopting a pet requires money, extra space, time, commitment, and mental headspace, but knowing that you are saving another life and getting unconditional love makes it all worth it.
A place full of pawssion
While Jane adopted Chance and Courage from a close friend, there are also shelters that you can visit if you decide to give a pet a forever home. One of them is Pawssion Project, a non-profit organization that aims to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in distress. It was founded by Malou Perez in October 2018, and since then, they have rescued more than 500 dogs and rehomed over 100 dogs. Their first shelter was built in Bacolod, and when numerous reports poured in after their first pound rescue, they decided to open their second shelter in Bulacan in 2019. Give them a visit if you think you’re ready to adopt a new pet!
